Corruption in Ethiopia: Assessing the Effectiveness of Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission in Combating Corruption

Numerous studies showed that anti-corruption efforts have been made in various countries. But corruption remains a major obstacle, especially developing countries, as it undermines the legitimacy and stability of government. This study aims to assess effectiveness Amhara National Regional State Ethics Anti-Corruption Commission combating corruption. Effectiveness was assessed using institutional autonomy, resource, clearly formulated mandate, transparency, power investigations, cooperation with other stakeholders parameter. To this end, qualitative case research approach adopted semi-structured interviews focus group discussion. Besides, secondary sources data also used obtain broader understanding reality. From analysis, is evident commission plays an important role fight against corruption, but has not yet effective. Therefore, we argued all sections society should work hand government properly prevent control malpractice hindering development country.
